Single-wall cups are thinner and lower cost — they need a sleeve for comfortable holding with very hot drinks. Double-wall cups have an air pocket between two layers of paper that insulates naturally, so no sleeve is needed. Double-wall has a higher per-cup cost but can offset it by eliminating sleeve purchases and serving slightly faster.
The bylaw has specific rules around single-use cup lids and straws. We carry compostable straws (available separately) that comply. For cups themselves, the bylaw's primary restriction is on certain plastic lids and straws — the paper and PET cups we carry are used widely by BC businesses. Yes. The lids we carry are matched to the cup sizes listed on this page. When you order cups and lids from us, the fit is confirmed — you don't need to test compatibility. If you're using cups from another supplier and want to source only lids, contact us with the cup specs and we'll advise on fit.
Most bubble tea is served in 16oz–24oz PET cups with a dome lid (to accommodate the wide straw). The 20oz and 24oz PET cups in our range are the most common sizes. Pair with our compostable wide straws, available separately, to comply with Metro Vancouver's straw provisions.
